Singaporeans are generally a stressful bunch, even the faulty trains when you’re already running late can easily trigger a breakdown.

So, here are 4 places that promise to clear your mind and soothe the tension in your muscles after a long day at work. These are places that you wouldn’t normally go to, but definitely where you’ll have some fun and celebrate TGIF.

Floating With Mindfulness @ Palm Ave Float Club

This might not be what you imagine it to be when you hear the word “float-pod”. But if you’re imagining something along the lines of a small bathtub with water that can close like a “pod”, you are somewhere on the right line.

Float-pod is typically a sensory-deprivation tank that allows you to use your sense of “hearing” for about an hour. Basically, you’ll be floating in water in a mini-tub that is entirely dark. For the full-experience, you’ll be stripped of everything and you’ll be in full contact with the water.

Your first 10 minutes in it will be accompanied by soft music that will help you ease into this chilling sensation.

When you immerse yourself for the first time, you might be a little apprehensive. That is definitely a given since most of the time, we are immersed in an environment where all 5 senses are engaged.

Once you are able to fully let yourself relax and realise that the only thing that grounds you is your body system and gravity, you will discover the calmer and clear-headed side of you. Perhaps this sensory deprivation tank might be your weekly guilty pleasure.

The music will start playing again for the last 5 minutes to signal the end of your therapeutic session.

It’s about time we shut the world out and give ourselves a second to find the inner zen in us!

Each per hour session costs $90. They have 1.5 hours session as well.

Cool Your Muscles For Complete Relaxation @ Only Aesthetics

It’s most common for working persons to experience back and shoulder pains. Sitting in the chair all day seems pretty harmless, but in reality, being stagnant in that one position does all sorts of weird harms to our body.

This ice-therapy will help you unlock all the knots in your muscles after a long day at work. Ranging from -4 to -2 degree celsius, the blast of cold air gives you relief from your chronic pains, muscle aches and inflammations.

And no, it is not like physiotherapy where the physiotherapist rubs exactly where it hurts the most to get rid of the pain. This is a painless experience that will also trigger your nervous system to release feel-good endorphins.

That’s essentially what we all need after work, right? It’ll be quite an experience as well — as after all, cold is truly not for the weak.

This therapy is definitely not a weekly session kind of thing. So do consult a physician or head down to Only Aesthetics to enquire about the suitability of the therapy for you.

Horticultural Therapy @ HortPark

We’ll provide you an FOC and less crowded option.

Instead of going straight to the extravagant display of greeneries at Gardens by The Bay, immerse in the humble NParks in Singapore and you might get to experience Horticultural Therapy for the first time.

Take a stroll in the therapeutic garden in Hortpark. It was opened in 2016 to provide senior citizens an avenue to revitalise their body systems and enhance the flow in their body to reduce the occurrence of/ their susceptibility  to illnesses.

While it was opened for the senior citizens, it is ultimately an open space that anyone can visit. It features the element of horticultural therapy, which is the use of plants and nature to bring benefit to human beings and stimulate the human mind.

The presentation of vibrantly distinguished flowers and the welcoming cool breeze will hopefully allow the weary and tired to breathe for a second after a long day of being cooped up in the office.

All 5 senses will suddenly be awakened. The pandan leaves will evoke your sense of smell as you walk experience the calming presence of pastel coloured flowers.
